The author is travelling to Basra along with his friend. During this, the author expresses his firm desire to domesticate an otter after he had lost his pet dog, He is traveling with his friend in search of an Otter somewhere near the Marshes along river Tigris in Iraq. When they hitted their destination, they found that only the friend’s mail had arrived. After a few days, the friend left while the narrator was still waiting to receive his mail.After getting it, he went to his room to find an otter , bring by two Arabs with a note. Surprisingly ,it was an Otter a gift from his friend. named as Mijbil ( Mij).it took some time to adapt to its surroundings. He was so dirty that after one month of cleaning and washing he got his real color.Mij like water and playing with it , he learned to open and close the tap. He believed that as long as there is a last drop of water in the bowl,It should be squished and splashed till the bowl had been emptied.it was time to fly back to London but the British airlines did not allow animals to fly with passengers, so he had to book another flight that allowed Mij to fly in a box.Before the flight, Mij was placed in the box to experience it. .When he returned, he found that the box was still there but now it was dirty.As a result, as a consequence blood was dripping out of the holes. Scared as he was, he hurried. They were Just 10 minutes away from the airport. In a hurry he cleaned everything to reach the airport on time.With great decency, he told the entire events to air hostess then the air hostess advised him to keep the box in his lap.The air hostess was very kind so Gavin like her.As soon as he opened the box, the otter came out and disappeared in that way a chaos was created in flight.A lady climbed up her chair and in an attempt to get a hold of Mij, the author got himself covered in curry. they reached London.Mij like playing with ping pong ball and with damaged suitcase of author. Narrator took him for walks . People of London, being unfamiliar with otters, they guesses that it is a wild animal. Some thought it to be a baby hippo, squirrel or even a seal. The irony come when a labourer digging the hole asked the author, “what is that supposed to be?”
